A simple guide to what you can find here in the Scriptorium!
Wondering what’s in the House of York?
What a wonderous delight is in store for you! *digs through pockets* I have some history of text technology, a few opinions on pantsing and serial writing, and…hmmmm…my dog Keely-Boo!
The doggo in question:
You can find out more about me specifically at The Storyteller’s Room, and you can find all my projects (books, websites, podcasts, socmed profiles, the whole shebang) at my official website, House of York.
Coffee and Hope what?
That’s my motto: Living on coffee and hope. That has never been more true than since 2020, when I decided to go all-in on being a writer. So here we are!
What’s in the Storage Closet
This blog was started as a way to share my thoughts on the history of text technology, my essays on holistic productivity, my explorations on topics such as fiction serials and discovery writing, and my observations of life during late-stage capitalism (urk!).
So yeah: a bit of everything. But! There is order behind the chaotic feed. I’ve broken things up into sections, aka “newsletters,” and I use metadata to make topics easy to find:
Newsletters from the Scriptorium
General: Everything. All of it. The fire-hose of KimBoo’s brain!
The Task Mistress: All the Tasks Fit to Print: Productivity thoughts and advice for authors and other solopreneurs; updated every Thursday. Usually.
Storytelling in the Machine Age: Opinions about A.I., technology, and the history of text technology. Updated at least weekly, sometimes more often.
Keely’s Way: My weekly “updates” post, where I share what I’ve been up to and a new photo of Keely!
If you don’t want all of everything dropping in your email box, here are instructions on how to subscribe/unsubscribe to specific newsletters.
Topics
I write about a lot of things so if you want a list of the wide range of topics covered here, check out my list of categories: Full List of Scriptorium Tags.
Fiction, Y/N?
Mmmmm….sorta? When I started this blog I had all my fiction on a different platform. A year later I decided to part ways with that service, and moved all my current/ongoing fiction over to a separate blog, KimBoo’s Bibliotheca. Head over there for dragons, magical doggos, and adventure OH MY!!!!!
THAT SAID…I did actually serialize a novel here on the Scriptorium! The Queen’s Aerie was originally meant to serve as a funnel to the other platform, but now it is just sitting here gathering dust. The book was released in mid-2024, so you can buy it if you want! But if you’d rather read for free, you can!
