Thank you KimBoo. As a hobbyist writer, I self-published my memoir in 2017 and this pt. 1 is exactly the first step I took. Now I am going back and trying to create an audiobook version. Perhaps you will get to that in future episodes on publishing.

Oh, I had not thought to put audio book creation/distribution on the list, but I definitely will! There are a lot of low-cost options out there these days. Are you voicing your own work?

I used an AI narrator 😉

Or they could, you know, serialise it on Substack. 😎😇😁 I need to start working on getting one copy of my third book printed as a prop, so I can “find” it as part of the conceit for my publication that I forget about 90% of the time. The last attempt at printing didn’t work so great, so I’m going to have to play with the Scrivener settings some more. I was thinking of a simple paperback that I could gussy up, but I may just call back onto binding it into book form myself.

If you can make Scrivener compile work, you are a GODDESS. I just gave up and forked over for atticus, I could not deal. I've built epubs from scratch using Sigil but dang, life is short, you know?

I will definitely be recommending Substack as an alternative publishing method, thanks for the reminder! Oh the irony...

I didn’t say I made compile work … just got it to a “good enough” point shortly followed by a “f$*& it” point. Nobody really sees the inside of the book but me ‘cause it’s a prop and it doesn’t exactly match what I publish on Substack because I tweak it right before posting (and find typos). However, I do want to conquer it. The last attempt failed because my printer was totally unable to handle a smaller than A4 paper size (which is ridiculous but anyway), I might try a standard size and trim and see what happens.
