The Merry Month of May
May is always weird for me, a time of trauma, transitions, and STUFF. This year was a good one, overall, but very busy. Along with ALL THE WRITING (orz) the organization I work for, Novo Collegian Alliance, helped current graduating students of New College of Florida hold the fourth annual alternative graduation, [NEW] Commencement 2026!
We also held two screenings in Sarasota of the heart-rending documentary about the New College takeover, First They Came for MY College. Catch it if you can.
(New College is all up in the news and it’s depressing, so I won’t go into it, but if you want to catch up, visit WhatHappenedtoNewCollege.org.)
But yeah, that meant lots of work and travel and extrovert-ing and…opps, half the month was gone [snaps fingers] just like that.
I’m back in the saddle with a LOT of projects on the horizon, though. More Serial Nation stuff, books being published, a long overdue upgrade to my backlist, and more! Wooo hoooo!
Weekly Monthly Round Up
Serial Nation has been slow for the past couple of weeks, but I’ve got a lot in the hopper! More resources, more blogposts, an ongoing chat, and soon I will schedule some “Office Hours” for Patreon supporters to yell at my face!
Transmigrated Teri: The draft of Arc 1, “Teri Transmigrates” (I’m so good at titles!!!!) just wrapped up at 100,059 words. I restarted posting it and we’re up to episode 7 our of 48, and posting weekly!
Dragon’s Grail, Arc 4: The Pirate’s Witch is also complete and headed into edits. I hope to start posting that in July, but more likely, August.
Sooper seeekrit projects abound! I wish I could say more, but then I’d have to kill one of us, and that sounds exhausting tbh.
Bastards of Yunmeng: This CQL/MDZS fanfic is nearly 167,000 words long, at 82 chapters, and counting. This story of a young woman (Jiang Yanli) who is thrust into trauma, drama, and adventures owns my heart, and has a lot of dedicated readers. It’s a great example of why I love fandom!
Flashback
Hard to believe now, but I originally started posting Dragon’s Grail back in September, 2024. Almost two years ago!!! What????!??!?!? But it’s true! The first arc, Escape from Ice Mountain, is free to read:
Out and About
Honestly, Sarasota is not my kind of town; too flat, too hot, too sandy, too many memories. But the Ringling Museum is still stellar, and the grounds are beautiful:
