Hurricane Debby actually turned early and so hit south of us. Tallahassee got some strong gusts of wind and a lot of rain, but not too much damage other than felled trees here and there. A lot of people lost power, but hell, that’s every other Monday in these parts during the rainy season!
Still, my brain does not cooperate with bad weather these days, so I just took a lot of benadryl and napped as much as I could. Friends like CarolF, GinaE, Melody, Ada Maria, KimM, and PatriciaE checked on me by text or phone, and that made me feel SO much better. Keep good people in your life, if you can!
Weekly Roundup
What’s with the “Tsunami of Crap”? I blog about how the act of writing has changed in the digital world, and also how it has not changed at all in my post “Writing in Public: What the ‘tsunami of crap” really represents.”
What’s Stage Fright Got to Do With It? Inspired by a comment by Dan Kenner when interviewing for his podcast, I delve into what, exactly, writer’s block is and how it is like stage fright…and what we can do to combat it!
REMINDER: The Queen’s Aerie is out in print! The story was serialized last year and the ebook released earlier this month, but now it is available in PAPERBACK at most major distributors!
The Lost City (Dragon’s Grail Arc 2): Episode 4: “A Foul Place” is up! (This is being updated weekly!) The team creeps up on a spooky, empty city!
The fanfic continues! I’m still working on this as my “fun escapist hobby” and enjoying it immensely! It is a WIP and is in the 陈情令 | The Untamed (TV) / 魔道祖师-墨香铜臭 | Módào Zǔshī - Mòxiāng Tóngxiù fandom. The Bastards of Yunmeng is all about the three kids of the Yunmeng Jiang sect after they get thrown out into the streets as children! (Yeah that’s right!)

Writing
Some weeks it’s just a job. Have I made progress? Yes! Am I happy with that progress? No! Is it all going to work out in the end? Also yes!
I admit, the money worries create stress that is counter-productive to creativity, and that’s hard to fight. Not to be a downer, but I’m tired of begging for money and I’m tired of being worried and I’m tired of the uncertainty. That all affects my ability to sit down, dip into my creative well, and weave stories out of thin air.
That’s not to say that everything is terrible, because it’s not! But the 2020s overall have been a speed run in anxiety and stress for all of us, hasn’t it? I hope you are doing well. He’s not a fave for a lot of reasons but he sure was good for the quotes:
If you're going through Hell, keep going. ~ Winston Churchill
It’s a Keely-Boo World
Keely is not a water dog. She does not like puddles, rain, ponds, or baths. I know when a storm is moving in that I need to time her walks as close as I can to the onset of rain because I know she won’t be going out until it clears.
Which is why, as she’s getting older now, I’m SO grateful for her diapers!
We got through the storm without any “accidents” and only four diapers. I think she’s become pretty used to them by now.
Here she is rolling around on her back, looking adorable so that I cave and give her another treat:
Thanks for reading Keely’s Way!
