Lots of great things going on with me! I’m trying to stay cool and out of the sunlight, but Florida is making it tough. Pray for my A/C, y’all!
Recap
Oooo, good stuff to share this week!
Guested on The Creative Penn Podcast!!!! I have been a fan of Joanna Penn’s podcast for years, and it was a bucket-list item for me to be interviewed by her! Check out Intuitive Discovery Writing and Serial Fiction with KimBoo York wherever you listen to podcasts!
Blog post all about the dreaded comparisonitis! The Tribulations is about the difficulties that challenge writers in the form of perfectionism, imposter syndrome, and especially comparisonitis! This a tag-team post with
who wrote about her own experiences with it in her post, My Rough Road to the Appalachian Writers Workshop.A Task Mistriss post on why you feel overwhelmed running a singular business: In the post “A” Business is Projects, Plural I talk about how running a business is actually about juggling multiple projects, and give you a short exercise to help you figure out how your brain organizes tasks.
The Lost City (Dragon’s Grail Arc 2): New episode is up! This is being updated weekly.
A FANFIC! That’s right, back to my roots! This idea grabbed me by the neck and would not let go. It is a WIP and is in the 陈情令 | The Untamed (TV) / 魔道祖师-墨香铜臭 | Módào Zǔshī - Mòxiāng Tóngxiù fandom. The Bastards of Yunmeng is all about the three kids of the Yunmeng Jiang sect after they get thrown out into the streets as children! (Yeah that’s right!)
Help Request Continues!
My GoFundMe campaign is ongoing! Please chip in if you can to help me stay housed and continue to grow my writing business!
If you would like to help more directly, here are wish lists for both me and Keely on ‘zon:

Other ways to help are to buy a subscription to this blog, buy my books, and/or subscribe to my fiction platform on Ream!
Writing
So, obviously, the two main ongoing projects are editing The Lost City for posting and writing Transmigrated Teri.
But…it’s hard, sometimes, to keep all creative juices flowing when it feels like everything is a crisis around you. I’m trying to raise money for rent, but I’m hardly alone in that. Multiple friends are trying to save their homes, pay medical debt, survive while disabled, and…the list goes on and on.
I hope you are finding time to rest your mind and your heart, and also practicing radical compassion for yourself too.
It’s a Keely-Boo World
Today, the 22nd, marks the two month anniversary of me coming home from a road trip to find Keely very, very ill. She was completely incontinent, uninterested in food, and her urine was a weird bright yellow. 😬
Her caretaker had not told me anything was wrong but then again, not much I could have done about it from a distance, with no money and no way to get home.
I nursed her as best I could, but at the point this photo was taken, I was pretty sure she was dying and was making plans on what to do about that. She’s not cuddly by nature but here she is, feeling miserable curled up in my lap:
I had puppy pads to soak up the pee but also used towels (as you can see in the photo), so I was doing 4 to 5 loads of laundry a day, while trying to hand feed her wet food.
Keep in mind I do not have a washer or a drier. My “washer” is a portable camp washer I put in my tub when I need to use it, and hang dry everything. Which means for several weeks I had drying towels draped over every surface in the house as I cycled through them. It was awful.
I did not do anything special, since I could not afford the vet bills. Basically, I just gave her D-Mannose supplements and benadryl twice a day. The latter I decided to try out because I suspected the issue might be a histamine reaction to a bug bite, which was the cause of the Big Scare in 2019 where I almost lost her. I also used iodine wipes to keep her lady drapes clean.
Obviously, she recovered. She’s still a bit incontinent, but just at night it seems (friends bought me a LOT of doggie diapers! Thank you so much!). It was a scary month there as she slowly pulled out of it, though. Reminded me how much she means to me.
Thanks everyone for your support through all of it. ❤️
Thanks for reading Keely’s Way!
