I cannot believe this week passed by so fast. It’s a week into June?!??!? Already??????
We’re officially in hurricane season, and it’s set to be a doozy. We’ve already had several extreme storms roll through in April and May, and it seems that we have unexpected and highly destructive squalls popping up on the regular as well. I took this vid when I was stuck on the back patio at Lucky Goat Midtown, after being caught by surprise by the torrential downpour halfway through walking Keely!

Writing
The co-writing sessions I lead on the 1 Million Words Club are really helping me make progress on Transmigrated Teri. Some days I have as much trouble sitting down to write as the next person, but having that commitment several times a week is motivational!
A convo with
made me realize that I was pushing the plot along too fast…a long-standing bad habit of mine. 😭 I want to get the action going! But in this case, I really need to step back and let the characters connect more fully, since a lot of what happens with Teri in this arc is dependent on how she feels about Count Ferdiff’s children and how, in turn, they feel about their formerly-evil step mother! And what, exactly, Theo the dog’s role is in all this…Keely & Co.
Keely seems to have turned a corner for the better!!!! 💖 A one-two punch of benadryl and D-Mannose seems to have helped the symptoms enough that she was able to bounce back. I downplayed how bad off she was, not wanting to worry folk until I knew for sure what the outcome would be, but I honestly thought I was on a death watch there for a couple of days.
But she’s feeling much better, eating food, drinking water, and begging for treats. Here she is looking miserably damp on the back porch of Lucky Goat, after we escaped the sudden squall that caught us mid-walk (as mentioned above). This is her accusatory glare of “how dare you let me get wet!!!!”
Sundries
I’m on another podcast! The guys at Fully Booked (Craig and Roland) invited me back for another great discussion! Focusing on discovery writing, we talked about outlining, not outlining, discovery writing as a technique, and why I identify as a “pantser”! All in support of my book By the Seat of Your Pants: Secrets of Discovery Writing. Pull up a seat and have a listen!
Thanks for reading Keely’s Way!
