Keely's Way: 11/18/2024
Time speeding by — my oh my
Going into the end of 2024…
And I’m totally not ready. I was not ready for 2024 on January 1st and I’m not ready for it in the middle of November, much less ready for 2025. What the heck.
The biggest drama of my week was that my bank card got compromised. Fortunately, my bank was on the ball and texted me about mysterious charges showing up. A phone call later and those charges were reversed! Yay! Then my card was deactivated and I was told the new one would be mailed to me. BOOOOOO!
It took over a week to get here, during which time a few online bills bounced and I could not buy anything. I know it might be hard to believe, but I do not have a credit card, no, not even one, no, not AmEx either. I’m fairly certain my credit sucks anyway, but I have not had a credit card in my name since 2002. In the meantime it meant short of walking down to the bank and pulling out cash I was stuck. Fortunately I had plenty of food and plenty of helpful friends, but sheesh.

The Four Winds: I am an alumna of New College of Florida, which is/was a quirky, super small liberal arts college in Florida. If you are not familiar with the drama, it was taken over by right wing henchmen of DeSantis back in 2023. This new publication is meant to both promote a soon-to-be-released book filled with oral history of New College, and serve as a platform for New College voices.
Dragon’s Grail Arc 1 is almost complete over on The Bibliotheca! This arc is free for all readers and will remain so forever, although I will make it a book you can buy down the road if you want!
The Bastards of Yumeng continues with Chapter 33!!! This fanfiction is a WIP and is in the 陈情令 | The Untamed (TV) / 魔道祖师-墨香铜臭 | Módào Zǔshī - Mòxiāng Tóngxiù fandom. I’m slowing down posting as life gets busier going into the holidays, but it’s still going strong!

One of my earliest posts on here is about how advances in technology for readers is leading directly to more opportunities for authors to explore our wildest, most niche of ideas and inspirations. It’s a great time to be a writer!
It’s a Keely-Boo World
Keely has good days and bad days. She’s just old and not in the best of health, so I do what I can to keep her feeling loved. It took a couple of years, but she eventually became comfortable enough to get on the bed in the morning to wake me up. Over time, that has advanced to morning cuddles, and recently she’s come to enjoy this, which is rolling onto her back to get belly rubs while a blanket or towel is thrown over her face. She’s under there, blissed out. What a weirdo! 😃
Thing is, she would never have trusted me this much when I got her in 2016, or even for several years afterwards. I’m so privileged to have been on the journey with her.
