Compassion begins where judgment ends.
Insight
It is easy to judge others when we view situations from a distance. Judgments can feel like clarity, but often, they limit our understanding and kindness. True compassion requires stepping back from the impulse to judge and leaning into an effort to understand.
When you dismiss judgment, you open yourself to recognizing the shared humanity in others. Every person carries struggles, fears, and experiences that may be invisible to you. Compassion is not about agreeing or excusing; it is about choosing to see someone’s vulnerability instead of criticizing their choices. Replacing judgment with understanding creates the conditions for connection and growth.
Reflection
Think of a recent situation where you judged someone harshly. How might compassion have changed your approach to them or to the situation itself?
