‟Hope cannot be said to exist, nor can it be said not to exist. It is just like roads across the earth. For actually the earth had no roads to begin with, but when many men pass one way, a road is made.” ~ Lu Xun
Insight
Hope is neither something certain nor something imaginary. It exists in the effort, in the act of moving forward, even when the destination is unclear. The metaphor of roads reminds us that paths are created through persistence. When we face the unknown, we forge ahead not because it is easy but because it is necessary.
Collective hope, the kind we pursue and carry together, is even more powerful. With each shared step, the path becomes clearer, until others can follow in time. Hope is not a guarantee; it is a commitment to keep walking.
Reflection
Who shares the journey of hope with you? How could you help reinforce the “roads” you are walking together?
