Hey y’all, it’s KimBoo! I’m an author who is also librarian, text technology historian, and former I.T. project manager. I write a whole lot of fiction and also about a lot of interesting things (I hope you agree!). Please consider supporting me (and my dog!) so I can keep throwing errata & etcetera into the Scriptorium!
Recently my friend Gina asked me, “Who are you telling about your Ream platform?”
I squirmed in my chair a little before finally admitting: no one.
To back up a bit: until the start of this very year, having subscription platforms for my writing was not on my radar at all. I had considered it in the past, but both did not like the platforms available for it (Patreon, or DIY) and was heavily committed to a (thus far) unsuccessful productivity coaching business.
Then I stumbled over Ream and the Subscriptions for Authors facebook group, and THEN THE FIRE NATION ATTACKED.
…which is not as hyperbolic as it looks. I really felt like I had been hit with a lightning bolt of possibility and potential from out of right field, which laid me out flat.
In that moment, everything changed.
But, having only found out about Ream in January, I did not launch my own Ream account until late March. Similarly, I did not get back on Substack until mid-April. It has taken me months to figure out what I’m doing and how I’m going to do it.
But the fact remains that I am doing things, and I should, you know, let people know. Okay then!
BOOKS HAVE BEEN RELEASED!!!! Both are available on my store, and also major platforms such as ‘zon and kobo. (Links go to my store, tho’!)
The Queen’s Aerie: My MMF fantasy romance now has early access chapters on Ream are updated twice a week, and the highest tier is up to chapter 28! Free chapters are posted once a week here on Substack as well as AO3, Wattpad, and RoyalRoad, and are up to chapter 15.
Transmigrated Teri: This “portal fantasy” originally kicked off here on Substack as daily snippets throughout July, which are still available to read! The first edited installment just went up on Ream for my highest two tiers of membership. Updates will probably be around twice a month there, with free chapters going up everywhere sometime in October.
Patience & Fortitude: This is my new publication focused on my grief journey as an adult orphan. I don’t have grand plans for it; I simply feel called to put it out into the world.
As always, check the Bibliotheca to find the updates on the non-fiction topics I write about here on Substack!
I'd never heard of Ream! I learn something new with every one of your posts.
